Sutton & District Synagogue COMMUNITY CHANUKAH PARTY
A very well attended event took place on Sunday 9th December 2012
to celebrate Chanukah at Sutton Synagogue.
Eighty people ranging in age from infant to ancient turned up to
support this year's celebrations.
The event featured entertainment by The Mancini String Quartet, an exceptionally talented group of muscians, who played a tremendous variety of music, ranging from 'Beethoven' to the 'Beatles', from 'Fiddler on the Roof' to 'Strauss' Blue Danube' and from a 'Tango' to 'Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody'.
The quartet played for nearly an hour.
This was followed by a sumptuous tea which of course included the traditional donuts and other delightful delicacies.
Following the refreshments, the blessings were made by the minister
and the Chanukah candles were lit.
Then the traditional Chanukah songs were sung by the community,
accompanied by the music of the Mancini String Quartet.
After the candle lighting, the community were entertained for a second session of music by the Mancini String Quartet.
Photos from the event can be seen in the 'Photo Gallery' :-
